A Day at Walt Disney World: Animal Kingdom

On day two of my Florida Adventure, we visit Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. I will take you through the world of Avatar, animals, and sweet treats.

Me in front of the Tree of Life

I was especially excited to visit this park because of its newest addition - Pandora - The World of Avatar. I can still remember it vividly the floating roots and rocks truly immerse you in the world. The sounds of Pandora all around and surrounded by alien plants of all shapes and colours I was completely in awe of all of the tiny details and references to the film. The first attraction of the day was Avatar Flight of Passage, you are strapped into the 3D ride with your back and feet positioned as if you were riding a banshee from Pandora.

The whole experience was so well thought out from getting paired with 'your' Avatar to the ride itself making you feel like you were actually flying. The next attraction was the Na'vi River Journey, you travel through the "bioluminescent rainforest" catching glimpses of the animals and passing the Na'vi Shaman of Songs.

Did you know? The Shaman animatronic is said to have cost $23 million.

The next part of the day's adventure took us to Asia. After riding Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain about 4 times, I had the best Mr. Whippy ice cream I have ever had! Shortly after finishing that, we went on the Kali River Rapids ride. I got completely soaked and my green toweling shorts were damp for most of the day after that - something I am not likely to forget for a while.

The festival of the Lion King was a 30-minute "larger-than-life" show which brings some of the most iconic Disney songs to you live. I love the lion king and hearing Circle of Life, and Hakuna Matata gave me goosebumps, I am hoping to see the stage production soon.
